City and Mining Museum

The museum is closed until 2022 due to construction work!

One of the oldest museums in Saxony is housed in an impressive late Gothic building. Various presentations introduce visitors to the world of Freiberg's famous ore mining and show important material witnesses to the history of the Silver City. The unique collection of treasures on the cultural history of mining and a collection of impressive altars and sculptures from the late Gothic period crown the exhibitions. A small treasure chamber awaits you with further interesting rarities.

The offer of the City and Mining Museum includes regular special exhibitions and guided tours (optionally also with demonstration of the mining organ positive and use of the audio guide) - plus concerts, events for school classes and interesting souvenirs in the museum shop.
