Bergstadtfest Freiberg

37th Bergstadtfest: 13 - 16 June 2024

current Information

On the last weekend of June each year, Freiberg celebrates the Bergstadtfest with around 160,000 enthusiastic visitors from near and far. From Thursday to Sunday, the city becomes a party zone. Experience living customs, unique culture and happy people in an enchanting setting.

Colourful worlds of experience and promenades

Beneath the Ferris wheel and roller coaster, between the wine and beer village, you can take a leisurely stroll and experience a lot. Detailed historical market stalls with craftsmen, shopkeepers, jugglers and minstrels take you back to the medieval life of Freiberg. Numerous stages offer space for a colourful programme. Children can let off steam on the bungee trampoline, in the children's high ropes course, in the petting zoo and at archery in the children's and family world.

Tradition meets top-class live acts

On all four days, a programme with well-known top acts awaits you on the stages in the city centre. Fans of Schlager, folk music and Dixieland will not miss out either. The highlight of the Mining town festival is the great traditional  miners´ parade with an extended marching route and a mountain service on Sunday morning. Other highlights include the election of the Mountain Town Queen and the closing fireworks display.

Support the Bergstadtfest - the collection pin!

In order to make the Bergstadtfest future-proof and to strengthen the "we-feeling" of the silver city of Freiberg, there will be a pin again this year. With it, visitors can voluntarily participate in the Bergstadtfest and actively support the festival in a way that creates identity.

The pin's collector motif in 2022 is the Bergakademist.  It is now the sixth edition of the mining collector's pin, following the miners' elder (2021), the miners' mason (2020), the sulphur smelter worker (2019), the miners' elder (2018) and the carpenter (2017).

There is no admission charge for the Bergstadtfest. The pin does not serve as an admission ticket, but as a collector's item.

The collector's pin will be available from 8 April for 3.50 euros in an edition of 1,000 exclusively at Freiberg Tourist Information. All motifs from previous years are also currently still in stock.

Freiberg - the name says it all!

Freiberg would like to show a lively "mirror image" of the Silver City through a strong participation of all clubs, associations, companies and communities of interest at the Bergstadtfest: as an attractive living space, important cultural city, innovative business and educational location and interesting tourist destination. The aim is to preserve regional identity and at the same time demonstrate cosmopolitanism.

Only thanks to the support of Freiberg's business community is a festival of such size and quality possible!
