Excursions

Freiberg is located practically in the middle of the Free State of Saxony between Dresden and Chemnitz - in the middle of a harmonious landscape; nestled in the valleys of the Münzbach and the Goldbach. You can reach Freiberg easily via many routes. Thanks to its ideal location, Freiberg is also a wonderful starting point for excursions to Dresden, Meißen, Bautzen, the Ore Mountains, Saxon Switzerland, the Czech Republic...

Dresden

The city on the Elbe

The historic old town on the banks of the Elbe is home to many sights: The Church of Our Lady, the Zwinger, the Semper Opera House and many other historical monuments as well as ensembles shape the image of the city. The multicultural Neustadt with its many special facets is also a must.

Saxon sandstone mountains

The predominantly sandstone low mountain range, which stretches along the Elbe from Saxony to northern Bohemia, is so well known mainly because of its highly fissured and shaped rock elevations. These not only offer a unique and impressive panorama, but are also home to an enormous variety of species in a very small area.

Meissen

Freiberg's history is closely linked to the margraviate of Meissen. Those interested in history will find Meissen a good complement to Freiberg's history. But a visit to the world-famous Meissen porcelain factory is also a highlight for the whole family. In the evening, it is worth enjoying a local wine in one of the restaurants.
