With 800 years of tradition and 1,000 ore veins, Freiberg's silver mine is one of the largest and oldest in Saxony. The "underground Freiberg" extends over an area of 5 by 6 km under the Silver City and beyond. Throughout its mining history, around 8,000 tonnes of valuable silver have been extracted from the ground of the mine, making Freiberg Germany's Silver City.
Dive into a world full of secrets and discover evidence of a bygone era. On various guided tours at depths of 60 - 180 m, with a route network of approx. 20 km, you can experience mining from the 14th to the 20th century.
